What Bat Should You Purchase?
Baseball Bats are regulated to perform differently. Here is a guide to see what type of bat you or your player should use. Check with the rules of the league to see which regulated govern you should use.
FOR PLAYERS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL, and COLLEGE
These players should use BBCOR Bats. As per the Certification, the bat should have a drop weight of more than or equal to -3 and have a diameter of no more than 2 ⅝". The bat also must have the certified logo of the organization.
TRAVEL BASEBALL:
Most Travel Ball players use USSSA. If you are in a league that allows USSSA bats, that league will also allow USA bats. But we recommend using the USSSA bat because of the level of performance it will give. The standard for USSSA bats has been unchanged since the 2005.
Here are all of the USSSA Requirements:
Must have the 1.15 BPF USSSA stamp on the taper OR
Have the Certified .50 BBCOR stamp (-3) OR
Be a Wood Bat
Barrel diameter cannot exceed 2 ¾”
Must be made by an approved USSSA bat manufacturer
RECREATION BALL OR USA SANCTIONED BASEBALL:
(Little League, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Dixie, PONY)
In 2018, USA Baseball began overseeing popular baseball leagues as listed above. This began the regulation of using a USA bat. In these leagues you cannot use USSSA bats, they are illegal.
Here are USA bat Requirements:
All baseball bats must display a USA Bat stamp of approval
No bat may exceed 2 ⅝” in barrel diameter
Players can also use any one-piece wood bat
